ARAM PACHYAN

Aram Pachyan is an acclaimed prize winner fiction writer of independence generation. His first book, short story collection Robinson was published in 2011 and earned him the Presidential Prize for Literature. His novel Goodbye, Bird has become a national bestseller in 2012 and is still one of the long-standing bestselling books of Armenian literature. His novel P/F (2020) received European Prize for literature in 2021. Pachyan has also published a short story collection Ocean (2014) and a collection of speeches, articles, essays and short stories If It Is Writer (2023).

He has been a radio host at radio with the program At The Library with Aram Pachyan, a columnist and journalist at Hraparak newspaper where he had his column Our City and was writing essays and texts about the history, memory and current state of the capital. He has been a writer in residence at Fall Residency of International Writing Program of the University of Iowa, Iowa, USA in 2018 and at Villa Waldberta, Munich, Germany in 2019.

The play I am a vegetarian as staged in 2017 based on his novel Goodbye, Bird and a musical piece Pachyan Fragments by composer Aram Hovhannisyan, based on Pachyan’s P/F novel, was written and performed in the US in 2015. Goodbye, Bird opera was staged in Munich Munich, Germany by Art Concept International Association. The recent theater project based on texts by Pachyan is the play MENologue at the Mher Mkrtchyan Artistic Theater.

Pachyan is currently teaching creative writing at TUMO center for creative technologies and works on his upcoming novel.
