Susanna Harutyunyan is a prominent fiction writer and one of the most acclaimed women authors in Armenia, with a bibliography of ten published books and numerous publications in short story anthologies. She has received multiple literary awards for her works, including the RA Presidential Prize for Literature (2016) for her novel Ravens Before Noah, and is a laureate of the Gregory of Narek Memorial Medal (2014).

Ravens Before Noah stands as the cornerstone of Harutyunyan’s literary career, having been translated into English, French, German, Spanish, Serbian, Arabic, and Bulgarian, underscoring the universal resonance of her literary voice. The French edition of the novel received the Nouvelles d’Arménie magazine Prize in 2025.

In 2023, Susanna Harutyunyan took part in TANDEM: Author with Translator, a program dedicated to fostering literary collaboration between writers and translators from the Black Sea Region. Within this framework, she worked with Ani Sarukhanyan, the translator of Ravens Before Noah into Turkish.

Harutyunyan has also participated in numerous international literary festivals, including Un Week-end à l’Est in Paris (2025) and the Book Festival in Nancy (2025), representing Armenian literature on major international stages.

Another novel by Susanna Harutyunyan, The Last Horse (2023), is currently being translated into French, while her latest work, To Die Beforehand, is on its way to publication.

She is the editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Kayaran.
