In the dark and war-torn Armenia of the 1990s, the protagonist of the novel, Mushegh, tries to help everyone: relatives, neighbors, acquaintances, even acquaintances of acquaintances. His door is always open to guests, while his wife silently watches as their dreams and savings disappear like a fading light in the lives of others. And only over the years, when life gradually calms to its terms, they begin to build their own house, not only from stone, but also from love. The novel is a story about honesty, duty and the desire for good, which sometimes becomes the hardest test for a person. It is also a kind of time machine for many Armenians, taking
them back to the early years of independence—marked by hardships, yet
remembered with a certain warmth and sense of coziness.
