At the end of the 19th and at the beginning of the 20th century different peoples living on the territories between Ottoman and Russian Empires were facing the times of struggle for existence and establishment of independent states. When massacres of Armenians in Turkey started in 1890es and were followed by the Genocide in 1915, many refugees, survivors and remnants of larger families fled to Armenia. Those who fought for their lives and freedom, formed Armenian Revolutionary Federation, and were called “dashnaks”. One of the leaders of dashnaks was Andranik Pasha, a national hero who saved thousands of people and led them to Armenia. But the Russians took over the territory shortly after to form the USSR which existed around 70 years after which the former republics became independent states. But even after 130 years from the events described and until now, the conflicts in the region haven’t been resolved. Through a true story about one family, their descendants and the village they lived in, this epic novel portrays the history of a whole century, starting with the establishment of the First Armenian Republic in 1918, followed by Soviet Armenia in 1920, which existed for the next 70 years and depicting the realities of the 2020es, over 30 years after the independence.
