About the book
Ravens before Noah is story of survival and life in isolation and freedom of choice. The people who have escaped from the Armenian Genocide in Turkey establish a village in the mountains, which is under no governmental rule. More people escape and join the village from the Soviet repressions. They live their isolated life, develop their own traditions and try to survive in their own ways. The ideas of good and evil are quite different for them, based mainly on their life experience and fear for their life. The magical realism style of the writer and the details of the rural life give a picturesque background for the tragic events that are developing in the story. Births and deaths, love and hate, care and neglect towards others.
