About the book

Sona and her husband Adam have been living in Stepanakert, the capital of the unrecognize republic of Nagorno Karabakh (Artsakh) for a year and a half to be close to their son Arman’s place of obligatory military service. Nothing predicted the impending danger, but the morning of September 27, 2020 started with the sound of bombings.

When they lose connection with their son on the battlefield, the father sets off to find him in the battlefield, but he also goes missing. So, the mother, Sona, starts her long journey trying to find both. She is pregnant, but she is unaware of that, yet. On her way full of struggle and bravery, she helps many soldiers and civilians who she meets. She buries all left-behind bodies in the woods and fields. She meets her old Azerbaijani acquaintance who is a military now. Some of these people are kind to her, others are not, and she herself is trying to find her way in the absurd and inhumanly realities and atrocities of war. By the time she finds her son, she is full of revenge, and she is also not a saint, just a woman who used every chance to survival both for herself and her family. The story is outlining the disregarded victims of war – the women – who bare all the struggle and consequences of war and become anonymous heroes of the life’s battlefield.
