On October 11, in the heart of the city and the beloved placed of writers – Artbridge Cafe Bookstore around 80 people gathered for the presentation and reading of the new novel by Jean-Chat Tekgyozyan “The Third Sex”.
Previously in August, since the day of the release of the book and once it got to the bookstores, the title of the book has become a subject for criticism among some groups of people on social media platforms and some bookstores have even rejected to sell the book.
The event was aimed at presenting to the public some extracts from the book, which would outline the themes and topics covered in then novel. Four acclaimed women were invited to read extracts from 4 chapters of the book: actress Tatev Hovakimyan, pianist Marine Karoyan, human rights defender Zhanna Aleksanyan and journalist, writer Anush Kocharyan. The author was present at the event through skype call and had a chance to talk about his book, and how the idea of writing a novel about women came to him.
The publisher Emma Kirakosyan, literary agent Arevik Ashkharoyan and poet Hasmik Simonyan were invited to a press conference before the presentation and have talked about the book, women in the book and the role of women in the Armenian society and as seen by the society itself.
